2019 Starting the New Year with a new mind set!
Realistic New Year goals!
Look after your mind! Family life can be hectic, and the stress of parenting and life in general can sometimes feel too much to handle, but it’s super important to look after yourself. This blog post in about the small thing you can do for YOU!
Meditation and mindfulness.
So a yoga retreat might be off the cards but just 10 minutes of guided meditation when you have a moment to yourself or before bed can reduce stress, anxiety and help you gather yourself and give yourself some clarity.
There’s many great apps, including Headspace, which are super simple and easy to use and follow.
So why not give it a try?
Need help staying organised?
Let’s face it, none of us are organised 24/7 but creating lists and planning the small things for the week a head, such as evening meals, can help leave time for more important tasks.
CALENDAR/PLANNERS – Keep it somewhere you will see it every morning, eg. next to coffee machine, and keep it up to date with appointments, dates and tasks for that week.
MENU PLANS – By taking half an hour on a Sunday evening to plan the family meals for week can save so much time for the rest of the week; giving yourself a rough guide makes those ‘mmmm what to have’ issues easier and also helps you to only buy what you actually need from the supermarket.
Don’t forget who you are.
As AMAZING as it is being ‘mum’ or ‘dad’, ’husband’ or ‘wife’ it’s important to remember to be YOU as well as your titles.
This year, start up that hobby again, get painting, go for a run and keep your long term goals in mind.
Keep a journal/notebook on your night stand and write down things you would to do, achieve or places you would like to visit (even if it’s not going to be until the kids are grown up) - have plans to look forward to and things to strive towards that are JUST FOR YOU!
Happy parent = happy family

Don’t be too hard on yourself!
It might seem like some parents have it all figured out, but in reality, no one does! Sometimes the washing up can wait until tomorrow, the kids can go to bed a bit later and a cheeky chocolate bar whilst watching the TV is what you need. So don’t beat yourself up if you feel you’ve not got it together all the time, it’s normal.
You’re doing great - remember that!
